We're here at last! All the months of planning and we arrived in Bangkok in the middle of the heaviest rain you have ever seen! Travel was relatively painless - train from Thirsk to King's Cross, tube to Heathrow and onto our first Quantas flight. We left the frenetic and grubby Heathrow at 10.30 pm and after an overnight flight, arrived at the serene, cool and spotless Bangkok airport at 3.30 pm. Got the train into Siam then changed for the sky train. Brollies up and we joined the throng on the streets for the walk to our hotel. It took us about 15 minutes and we were soaked! A friendly German backpacker, all kitted out with the latest and squeaky clean brand new kit advised us to get a waterproof cover for our case! Don't think I'll be bothering any time soon.
Our hotel room does look a bit like a laundry though with wet clothes from our sodden suitcases hung all around it drying in the air con. It is now 7.30 pm and we are going out into the night to find something to eat. Then we are going to agree, or possibly, argue, about what we would like to do, and see, over the next few days. See you later, hopefully with some exciting pics.

I can't believe that you have started after all the planning. We keep thinking about you at the old place, usually through very jealous gritted teeth!!!!!! Can't wait to keep up with your adventures. Have a great time
